We start the day in Rochdale where Dippy The Dinosaur (a cast of the Diplodocus from the Natural History Museum) is on tour in the new Library complex. Touchstones is the town’s Art Gallery and Heritage Centre. There is a special exhibition of two painting by LS Lowry, lent by the Co-op – Footbridge and Cleator Moor. The origins of the cooperative movement can also be explored at the Rochdale Pioneers Museum.

We then move into Manchester City centre where there are two exhibitions to visit. The Manchester Open Exhibition is on show at Home, the new joint venue of Cornerhouse and Library Theatre. The Great Northern Warehouse has an exhibition of Lego entitled The Art of the Brick, a globally renowned touring exhibition by Nathan Sawaya. More than 75 pieces of art will feature at the exhibition, which showcases stunning sculptures made up of more than a million iconic LEGO® bricks, includes captivating recreations of iconic art, including the Mona Lisa.

Entry fees to museums and galleries are extra. National Trust (NT) properties are free to Members, but only if you remember to bring your card.
