Visiting Northwich by our Waterways

QUICK LINK - River Levels on the Weaver and Dane

Many waterways visitors spend time in Northwich when cruising the River Weaver Navigation.

There are visitor mooring between Northwich Town Bridge and Hayhurst Bridge where the River Dane joins the River Weaver.  There is also sanitary facilities just downstream from Northwich Town Bridge.

Northwich Town Centre offers an extensive range of shops including supermarkets in easy reach of visitor moorings.

The River Weaver stretches over 50 miles from its source in the Peckforton Hills to its confluence with the Manchester Ship Canal.

It passes through some of Cheshire's best countryside and provides a fantastic opportunity whether you are walking or boating.

Although not navigable until Winsford Bridge in Winsford, the River Weaver passes through Wrenbury, Audlem, Nantwich and Church Minshull before it drops down to the Winsford Flashes.

From Winsford Bridge it meaders 20 miles to the Manchester Ship Canal passing through the market towns of Northwich and Frodsham.

Downstream from Northwich, you can visit the iconic Anderton Boat Lift that takes you up to the Trent and Mersey Canal.

All along the way, you will find considerable heritage - swing bridges, industrial heritage and the great locks of the Weaver at Vale Royal, Hunts, Salterford, Dutton and Weston Marsh.
